I played a few songs last night here in Seattle. I borrowed a guitar, an electric guitar specifically, and played it though a distorted little amp and was joined by a cool local girl who sat in on drums. I think the thin gritty distortion of the guitar immediately put me into punk/distorted/garage band mode and I didn’t even play any of my own songs and instead just went into a medley of thrashed garage band standards.
It was liberating and felt dirty at the same time. I have no idea what kind of impression I made on the audience, but I guess it seemed to go over well enough.
If you’re one of those people in the audience and are now surprised to have landed on my web page to hear the music I typically make, I hope you’re pleasantly surprised, or at least not terribly disappointed that I’m not the next Kurt Cobain.
Love,
SJ
